Steve and I went to the PersonL / Good Old War / Anthony Green concert last night at the Avalon in Salt Lake. Personnel was hit and miss, Anthony Green was relatively entertaining, but we went mainly for Good Old War, a sort of folk-rock band. (Who knows how to classify music anymore…) They didn’t disappoint, and as usual, I found myself a bigger fan of the band after hearing them live than I was before (truthfully I’d only sampled Good Old War a couple times in the past, and their first CD was only released last week, my copy having arrived this past Monday).
Steve drew a comparison between Good Old War and Simon & Garfunkle… I think there’s some similarity in the sound of the music and the vocals. Either way, if you enjoy the track in this post, “Maybe Mine”, you’ll probably enjoy the album… good stuff!
I also enjoy people watching at these venues. Groups of friends, loners, awkward couples… During the first act (PersonL), there was this couple in front of us that amused me… she’d occasionally rub his arm or his back, and he kinda kept more to himself… then a little bit later they were sitting a few feet apart… and then later back next to each other, with him flirting a little more than earlier, hehe. I mused over what might be going on in each of their minds. (Different couple than the one in the picture above. They were just your standard level PDA type couple– not all over each other, but not really shy either).

at one point i considered bagging going to this concer, I’m soooo glad i didn’t, it was great! btw the band is spelled PersonL, not that it matters really. ๐
Yeah I’m a lazy bum and didn’t check the spelling ๐ Yeah I wasn’t really psyched cause I’d barely listened to Good Old War and knew nothing of the other bands… but Gold Old War alone was worth it ๐ Highly enjoyable.
