UPDATE ON TRILOGY TUESDAY

OK folks, here’s the deal.

— Each person can purchase up to 6 tickets, so there shouldn’t be a problem there.

— They are only getting ONE print of the movie from Newline. They are hoping New Line will give them permission to link it up and show it on 3 screens simultaneously, but they don’t know yet (should know later today hopefully). This means there will be at least 400 seats available– if they can link them, then 1100. This is 400-1100 for all of Utah.

— Asked the guy if they anticipated campers. Yes– they are opening up an area in the North parking lot tomorrow morning for people to wait in line. That’s 48 hours of waiting in line!

— Again it’s $30 a ticket, and they go on sale at 9am Thursday Oct. 9

I guess we’ll see how many start lining up tomorrow… has anyone ever played the ticket-line game before? It’s tough when you have work. Can you set up a camp spot and take shifts or what? I’m thinking if it starts to get a bunch of people we may need to do that… I can take some time off work too.
I know that Jeff and Dan are willing to wait in line / camp, but I’m fairly sure they’re both pretty busy Tuesday and until Wednesday night. Hmm….

Update Again
For those who wanted to know, current information says that the first feature of the trilogy starts at 3pm on the 16th of December. (then Two Towers at 7, then ROTK at 11). Not 100% sure on that but I bet it’s pretty close– though that makes for pretty short breaks between movies. We’ll have to pack some dinner I guess!

I think we’ve got things more or less figured out… the next few days should be fun, heh.

  1. Okay, I definitely want a ticket for this… and I’m willing to take a shift, if I need to, on Tuesday night. I’m pretty sure you can set up camp and take shifts… I don’t know why not!

  2. Cool. I can probably hang Tuesday night, I think the biggest challenge will be wednesday morning. I guess I’m paranoid, in reality there probably won’t be too many people tomorrow… but then, I could still be underestimating how many people will trek to Sandy to get tickets.

  3. Let me know if you need anything covered. I will see if Drake or I can help out

  4. It really depends on how bad it is tomorrow I guess…

  5. Okay, cool – just keep me posted! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the countdown, by the way…

  6. you do know that the movie isn’t going to change when it comes out in the theare, right? i just htought i would check b/c it sounded like you thought this was the only chance you wre going to get to see it or that maybe it was going to have a conpteley different ending as the book or something…
just kidding, i know they are really cool movies, josh is super excited too. i just don’t really like theaters that much so i would rather wait until it isn’t super crowded.

  7. What a cynic. You know Sloan I think I saw a place to ban certain IP’s from visiting your site on MT. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. LOL. Yeah well it is the only time the extended cuts of these movies will be shown in theaters consecutively– and to be honest, to get the full experience of LOTR you kinda have to watch it in the theater. I did manage to see all 3 original Star Wars movies in the theater back to back when the “Special Editions” came out.

Ah I can’t help myself, it’s too cool, as geeky as this is.

  9. lol, you so know that when you camp out, you will be surrounded by nerds and geeks. Becareful to not catch anything, ok?

  10. ps, what happened to travis’s site?

  11. We are nerds and geeks and there is no sense denying it now. Sloan I talked to drake and he said he was gonna stop some money by tomorrow. I wasn’t sure if you got the message on your phone or not so I thought I would make sure by posting on here.

  12. Yeah, it’s true. Definitely taking steps farther into geekdom here– and while personality-wise some of those geeks out there may be a little odd, I guess I am myself, heh.
