Today I packed up the Joycook “Rosta” grill and headed down to Salt Lake to meet with Hae An, Joel, and Hang for some Samkyupsal. Man, that was, as Joel said, one of the best Korean meals I’ve had in the states. It was much like the time before when we had it, except this time Hae An grabbed some kimchi from his friend’s apartment, and it was freakin’ good kimchi– the best / most authentic I’ve had in the states as well. So in addition to the meat, onions, and garlic on the grill, we also thew on some kimchi and added that to the lettuce wraps– I thought I had died and gone to heaven. A strange thing to me about Korean food is that in cases like this, it leaves me craving more instead of satisfying me for a while. I can hardly wait to make samkyupsal again…
Joel, Hae An, and Hang’s arm
So yeah, it was fun hanging out with Hae An again since he moved back to the states a couple weeks ago– that guy is so funny and fun to be around. He actually lives pretty dang close to where my Dad lived long ago, up in the Avenues in Salt Lake City– kinda trippy.
We just hung out for an hour or 2 until we had to go, at which point Joel was gracious enough to give Hang (and I) a ride to the Korean market on 3300 So., after which we all headed our separate directions.
