…or rather, my mind is out of joint. These are some of the thoughts rattling around in there today.
I’ve been a bit distracted for the last couple weeks. Changing cars shouldn’t be that drastic of a life change, but in a month of the year that I usually struggle with, it’s not surprising that my mind is all over the place.
I don’t love driving on the freeway at night. Driving at night with tinted windows? Even more fun.
HOWEVER. Tinted rear window + auto dim on the rear view mirror makes me quite happy when trucks or other cars with otherwise too bright of headlights are behind me.
On Saturday I was stopped at a light downtown just before the freeway on-ramp. This car pulled up next to me and rolled down their passenger window. The kid in the passenger seat proceeded to point his digital rebel at me, which my kneejerk reaction was to pull forward / move so that there’d be motion blur in his picture (unless he was shooting video…). I forgot that my windows were tinted.
The guy at the car audio shop today didn’t even have to guess– he knew I was single. Apparently most married men don’t simply stroll into shops like that and buy nice speakers. They have to answer to the wifey. (Yes, I’m easily amused. You know this.)
Owner of the shop was an older fellow, probably in his 60s. He pointed outside to his “stimulus package”– a brand new Camaro. It was white… not my fave, but dude. Regardless of color, that new Camaro is hot! Guess he got a fat tax return.
I learned again today not to judge a book by the cover. That shop looks pretty ghetto from the outside, I’d have never just stopped in to poke around. It was pretty cluttered inside, but it was inventory that was cluttering the place. Boxes everywhere of speakers and other audio components.
But hey– only place in Utah that carries that specific brand of speaker. I called them up this morning not realizing it was a shop I’d driven past a hundred times. On top of having exactly what I wanted, the owner gave me a ridiculous deal on the item without me trying to talk him down. I guess it had been collecting dust for a while.
Ya never know when you’ll come across a diamond in the rough.
