Both Emilys made reference to Google Reader recently on their blogs (I think I mighta heard something from Cassi too– this is how they are the first–and sometimes only– people to comment on new blog entries). So I thought I’d check it out… and now that I’m started using it, I thought I’d give it a mention.
I’ve never used an RSS feed reader before (I use various computers so a
browser-based solution wasn’t attractive to me). But Google Reader is
like gmail for the web sites you check– you just tell it what sites to
watch (provided they have RSS feed) and it’ll notify you when one’s
updated. It’s convenient and easy to use, being that it’s integrated
nicely with the rest of your google services like gmail and blogger.
As
the number of blogs to keep up on increases, this can do one of two
things: a) get you reading more blogs because it’s easier to keep up on
them, or b) help you spend less time checking blogs to see if they’re
updated.
In any case, I’m probably behind the times just
barely getting into this RSS feed business. But if you don’t use it or
don’t use a reader, check it out.

i use bloglines. Same thing. Haven’t looked at google reader yet.
Cool. Yeah I’ve heard of stuff like this for years, just never felt like trying it out. Reader was conveniently linked up there in my gmail…
Good crap. This could be another great distraction.
distraction? yes, yes it is. ๐ P.S. For some reason, when I tried to add your blog to google reader last time, it didn’t work. So I have actually been checking your blog manually. I just tried to add you again, and it worked this time ๐
Aw. You’re just awesome, Em. ๐ Yeah my old blog had a feed, but it wasn’t published on the page anywhere so google reader couldn’t find it. I’ve found a few other blogs like that… you have to have the atom.xml address or whatever to subscribe to it.
