It’s about 4:30am, I wake from dreams to hear thunder and the dogs barking. Lightning flashes procede the thunder. It’s kind of eary at this time of night/morning when all is dark, quiet and supposed to be sleeping. As I lay in bed, I get this urge to let out a blood-curdling scream…
Just to freak anyone who hears it out, hehehe… but even the thought of letting out such a scream freaks myself out. You see, your mind can play tricks on you in the wee hours. The lightning reminds me of the Twilight Zone movie and I expect that any moment a flash of lightning might briefly reveal some horrifying creature or event that is otherwise unseen in the darkness. The rational mind sleeps while the imagination runs wild, my consciousness somewhere between the dream world and reality.
But now the thunder and lightning are subsiding, it won’t be terribly long before the light returns. Perhaps I should sleep more and see if dreams or nightmares come…

Eerie!!! I was awake about the same time, listening to the dogs bark, and wondering if indy was high-tailing it down to your room to jump on you and hide frome the thunder… and as I lay wondering, I noticed that I was laying stiff as a board in my bed, on my back – with my arms to my sides, and my covers drawn exactly down to my knees. If I’d heard you scream, I probably would have died of fright, hehehe! What an eerie night!
I’m glad I wasn’t awake at that time. In a new house that is still somewhat unfamiliar, that kind of an experience might’ve left me scarred for all day today.
Be glad you don’t live at day break eh? I swear, driving to work lightning off to the west just looked like it was striking down there, hehehe.
Funny how you can freak yourself out eh? Hehe… cracks me up that I wrote that at 4:30am…
Oh, and yeah Bob did run down and pounce on Dan in bed. My door was closed 😉
Bahahaha!!! Poor Dan… but you’re lucky he didn’t whine you to death. He whines at my door almost EVERY night – or, I should say, morning – at about 3:00. I think he’s bored and just wants to bug someone! I could kill that dog… if he wasn’t so cute!
aw, bob, so adorable… as for the lightning and thunder storms, I miss those. It rains quite often here, just no lightning or thunder. The rain is relaxing, but the lightning and thunder are so fun and exciting. The other night I went to sleep to the sound of light rain… I was out SO fast
did you guys get hit hard when the supercells were going on back on the 1st?
what the heck is a supercell? we have nighttime thunder/lightning storms all the time here in NC. i often wake up at 4ish to thunder. but, dude. do you have to be so freakin’ scary on your blog? i’ll have to notify megan not to read this post.
a supercell is tornado conditons (hail, rain, winds) but no funnel
