I was flipping through digg.com (a sorta tech news blog) when I came upon a link to an article about how students at BYU had created a remote conctolled ornithopter. I’m usually curious to see what the reaction is when someone mentions a church school like that, so I read through some of the comments on digg for that article. Though inevitably people take shots at Mormons, this comment made me laugh:
“I used to knock Mormons until I found out that they gave us In-N-Out Burger. As far as I’m concerned, they can do whatever they want now.”
Hehehe… I’m sure there’s no truth to there being a link between In-n-Out and Mormons, but it makes me laugh nonetheless. All bow to the almighty In-N-Out!
Are there really scriptures on the bottom of their cups and bags? I’ve never noticed.

Actually, I heard that In-N-Out was created by some Born Again Christians, and that they hate the Mormons – which is why they refuse to put their exstablishment in Utah (although, I heard they have plans to build one in St. George in the near future). I don’t know if any of this is based in fact, but it makes you wonder . . .
p.s. check out the wikipedia article about In-N-Out. I never knew there was a SECRET MENU!!!
Ah yes, I’d heard of the secret menu, but mostly only knew about 4x4s and animal style burgers/fries (I don’t particularly care for animal style fries, I’ll tell you).
It’s more fun to have a secret menu than to have a big long menu, I think. And it’s marketing genius. Simple menu to make things run smooth, and a secret menu to get people interested and coming back to try “secret” items ๐
P.S. It seems like wikipedia is the source of all truth. It cracks me up. I thought about looking there too re: the mormon joke.
P.P.S. Did you see the picture of a 20×20 on that wikipedia page? SICK!
I know! Can you imagine ordering one? I’ll bet they’d laugh you out of the store. I’m tempted to do it, just to see what they would say. ha ha. And, yes, my admiration for wikipedia grows daily. It’s almost as good as Google. And that’s saying something. It makes me wonder why Google hasn’t snatched it up and merged with it yet. Seems like they’re gobbling everything else up (ahem . . . blogger, for instance, among many others).
I think I shall stop by In & Out tonight and check out this whole scripture-on-the-products thing. And to rub it in the face of those who love it but don’t live near it.
There are benefits to living in Nevada, I tell you!
I think we need a roadtrip to do a little research. never heard about the scripture references before.
Seeing as I live at least two thousand miles away from the closest In and Out, I’ve eaten their only twice. The first time I noticed a scripture reference on the bottom of the cup. (Being a klutz leads to discovery!) It was to something in John but I don’t remember the exact one.
I can rationalize a lot to myself when its for educational purposes. I give you the scriptures on In & Out items–

travis- my brother was telling me last night he knew a guy on his mission who ate one. Sick! (he served in Sacramento– In-n-Out all the time).
Laura- Nice. I’ve eaten there I don’t know how many times and never noticed it.
Heebs- roadtrips are always great ๐ Anything else to do in Vegas besides hit In-n-Out, tho?
Sus- who are these people who love it but don’t live near it? Hehe…
ya know, i’ve never been a big fan of las vegas. i guess as a mormon there’s just not much to do besides shop and watch the casino stuff on the strip (oooo, and maybe catch a digital movie). and one time watching the fountains or the pirate ship was enough for me. but i do love roadtrips.
Yeah, same here. I guess we could visit schmizzle if he were in town and actually had free time, but a) I think he’s out the rest of this month and b) free time? Last I heard from him was at 10 at night and he just had time to peck out a feverish sentence that said he had no time but to call if I stopped in Vegas, hehe. The note sounded like he was sneaking a moment behind some tormentor’s back (maybe not far from the truth huh). But we can always check eh?
I thought of the digital projector too, but I think we have one here now so it’s not as big of deal (tho we could still do it– it’d be fun). Hmmm….
as long as you’re in the mood for road trips, you could always come to Arizonia and enjoy the heat!
I can’t believe you’ve never noticed the scripture thing. Maybe it’s a little more prominent at Christmas-time, and harder to miss, because it seems like I’ve known about the icognito scripture placing for a long time.
Dang. Sus, your comment got filtered as spam for all the links you put in it, haha. I just allowed it to be published.
Rev. 3:20 had me all interested, but then I read it and it was just regular stuff. Nothing about beasts or dragons or anything freaky cool like that. Darn.
