Christmas goodies

It’s started already. This is what I came in to find on my desk at work this morning.

Ah, maybe I wrote about this last year. I felt so bad because Christmas came around and all these people in my new department (it was new to me back then) left these little gifts on my desk and being the non-thoughtful guy that I am, I didn’t even so much as give people in my department cards. Guilt.

It’s going on again this year, of course. Yesterday I got a jar of homemade salsa (good stuff) and a couple other little things, and came in today to find more.

The thing that sucks is that they’re pretty much all women– so not only are they thoughtful but they’ve only spent very little on the gift yet have made it look nice. You can tell they spent some time on them (even if they mass produce them and give them to everybody, it still takes time and effort). They’re all crafty and creative, and I’m lazy the mizer who hasn’t done anything for my coworkers yet. I’ll have to come up with something tonight so I don’t feel like a jerk again this year, hehe. It’s making it look pretty that I don’t have the energy for, hehe.

  1. No worries Mike, I’m not doing anything for my co-workers this year so you are in good company although I do feel a little badly.

  2. me, neither. i buy presents for immediate family and send cards to extended family and friends… my co-workers/students routinely buy me little gifts (this year i got hooked up with halo 2!) but i don’t want to start buying all those little trinkets. you’re exactly right, though, about how the gifts are cheap, but they spend so much time or whatever making them look so nice. i’d rather play halo 2.

you, know. not to sound ungrateful or anything…

  3. Well, duh, they spent a bunch of time on packaging. Isn’t that how your company makes its money? Decorate the HECK out of your cards and wrapping, they say with their glossy catalogs and perky demonstrators. Lest you think I am making fun or insulting the CO, fret not–I own several hundreds of dollars worth of it. And I love it all.

  4. Yeah. I’ve actually heard some other people share similar sentiments at work, eheh… about feeling guilty and stuff cause they don’t have anything / the time to do anything for others, hehe. I decided to get something for my team anyways, heh.

Josh you lucked out man. Halo 2?

GAF– It’s true. That’s what I get for working in the art department with a bunch of women. Not only are they thoughtful but they’re also creative… InO told me you were a stamper, so I figured you were being serious, hehe. It’s not really a cheap hobby!
