more digital…

Digital Ace boy here just got a little more digital. To congratulate myself on getting the Production Design job (and because I’ll be making a little more at that job), and to gear up for some more holiday use of the digital camcorder, I treated myself to a DVD Recorder… woo! There’s quite a bit to learn about dvd authoring but I’m excited to learn and start making DVDs.

Anyways, I can see this sucking away hours and hours of my time, hehe… I guess it’s more productive than taking naps in the afternoon, eh?

  1. Well, you’ll always me my digital geek hero. I didn’t even know there was such a beast!

Um, back to the dusty old books now.

  2. Jesse can’t believe you haven’t opened it and played with it yet!

  3. Yeah. I still haven’t touched it, hehe. Sad that I was so anxious to get it and now I haven’t even touched it. I guess I’ve been preoccupied with other things…

  4. hehe, just noticed that’s it an LG. i notice i buy a lot of samsung electronics since the mission. just wondering if you subconsciously “buy korea”

  5. Josh–

Maybe sometimes. Like my DVD player is Samsung– I just wanted a cheap DVD player and Samsung was one of them and looked decent so I went with it. You get what you pay for.

Otherwise, I’d have to say “no”– the fact that it’s Korean has little to no impact on whether I buy it (in fact if it did I probably wouldn’t buy it, hehe…). Amazingly, though, LG now makes some of the best CDR drives and now some of the best DVDR drives, and they are way less expensive than other brands like Sony and HP. I really was suprised to hear that out of 11 different DVD burners, Tomshardware.com recommended the LG drive and the Pioneer drive. For the price you simply cannot beat the LG– and it’s an overall top performer. So as far as CD drives go– as long as LG keeps cranking out top notch drives for cheap I’ll buy ’em 😉

So yeah, though I generally have preferred Japanese electronics the last few years, this year has seen me buy a couple of Korean brands… (I bought an mp3 player that’s also made by a Korean company called iRiver– it’s sweet. The fact that I can read iRiver’s korean page is simply a bonus– i bought it for it’s reviews, features, etc.)
